This may seem like an odd place for this but our customer base knows what we do and what we are about.... People that work with us or for us are few and far between because they may stay with us 5 to 10 or more years. It takes a few years to even learn and be profcient at wood repair, coating removal, touch-up and refinishing. So I am going to be losing my "right hand" person that has indeed been with me for the last 5 years. That position was eventually headed toward kind of taking the reins in the shop as I taper my activities. Don't get me wrong I am still quite active in the shop, on the road, etc. but it takes a bit of my time to keep up with tech., searching for and ordering supplies, answer emails, etc. I need that "right hand" person to fill in for me as needed in all of those other shop aspects....
What are looking for?.....This could be a person in there mid 20s all the way up to retirement age. Because we must move furniture around to work on it you need to be able to lift at least 120 pounds to your waist. Most of the package delivery people have to meet that requirement so that's not unusual. Physical disablilities can be somewhat aggravated around our type of environment, for example asthma can be a problem because we around wood dust. A bad back or knees is going to be tough because of moving furniture. It's just common sense folks.... I mean, it's work! We generally like to see people that have some experience in "allied" fields such a woodworking, carpentry, metal working, and property maintenance. In fact, if you are already doing some of that work on the side and just need some steady income to fill out your schedule we might be just the ticket for you. We need a 25 to 30 hour commitment but those hours can be flexed quite a bit and in fact can even be somewhat changed week to week.
Sooooo..... maybe college didn't work out for you?, Just need a change in your day to day? If you like working with your hands and like doing something different everyday we might be a fit for you. Have you ever held wooden items that were 200 to 400 years old? We do this daily..... When is the last time a person shook your hand and burst into tears because you restored their memories? It happens to us routinely. Is your boss such a stand up guy that he had to sign canons of ethics to belong to his professional organizations?.... I have to sign those every year.... Sound interesting? Tell me a bit about yourself and include a resume if you want to.... Contact me by email only at... woodoctr@aol.com That is all lower case and watch the unusual spelling on the.... woodoctr And, please, no phone calls, contact by email is the first thing we need.....
